After I was done Stalking in the Highlands I had a few days to spend in Royal Deeside. If I were a rich man I would spend the winters in Scotland Stalking and Shooting and the summers in California playing in the Vineyard.
I have been to Scotland many times so tend to try and check out some more eccentric sights. This is a picture of the river Fugh taken on the Bridge of Fugh. I thought it was a peaceful and beautiful place.
I spent a lot of time exploring the little Deeside Villages. One thing that they all had in common was a memorial to the fallen soldiers of the Great War. What I found shocking was the sheer number of names in these memorials. This one is in a little village that had 20 buildings at most. Rural Scotland paid a high price during the Great War!
You can't throw a stone in Scotland without hitting a Castle. Crathes Castle is one of my favorites. It is a beautiful castle and has a really nice garden. I spent several hours there enjoying the scenery and had a cup of tea at the restaurant there.
Scotland has a special place in my heart and I can't seem to stay away for long. Sometimes it seems more like home than home does.
